Hugo Kitching is a Canadian wildlife cinematographer based on the edge of a vast wilderness park in northern Ontario.

An owner/operator of multiple Red cameras including the new Red V-Raptor, a Canon CN20 50-1000mm lens, time-lapse photography equipment, a jib, a dolly, and a Mavic 2 Pro drone, he is well positioned to capture complete sequences for blue chip natural history productions.

Hugo loves filming stories of changing landscapes and rare animal behaviours; his favourite subjects include moose, bears, wolves, lynx, coyotes, beavers, otters, the wealth of bird species found in Canada’s near north, and most especially the unique beauty of the four seasons in Algonquin Park.

Now with over a decade of independent professional experience, Hugo has travelled across North America filming for BBC, NatGeo, PBS, CBC (Canada), Arte, and NHK (Japan). As a skilled naturalist, seasoned field researcher, and cold weather specialist, Hugo’s intimate knowledge of Canadian wildlife and experience exploring Canada’s forests and lakes have made him an indispensable asset to these productions.

He maintains an extensive Red stock footage library of Canadian wildlife and landscapes with clips available for purchase.
